You gotta enable Adventure Sync in Pokemon GO settings and give the necessary permissions in your phone's health app (Google Fit or Apple Health).

Simple! Go to Settings in Pokemon GO, scroll to Adventure Sync, and toggle it on. Make sure your fitness app permissions are enabled!
