How to Assign Crew to Your Ship in Starfield
To assign crew to your ship in Starfield, head to a spaceport with your ship docked, then go to the crew management section through the ship menu. From there, you'll be able to assign available crew members to their roles on your ship.

Just dock your ship at any spaceport, open the ship's menu, and choose the crew members for different roles. Easy-peasy!
From personal experience, make sure your ship has enough ‘Crew Capacity’—ran outta room once, had to leave Bob behind. Bad day.
