Honestly, I just let my Pals roam free. They seem happier that way, and I'm all about that virtual pet life. Plus, you'll figure out quickly which ones naturally gravitate towards certain jobs!
Just drag and drop. Literally, go to your base, pick a Pal, and drop them into the job you want them to do. Keep an eye on their strengths though; not every Pal is cut out for every job!
