Simply use the 'F' key while in the weapon menu to assign weapons to quick-action slots. You'll be a space cowboy in no time with all your guns ready!

You don't need to assign weapon groups. Just shoot first, ask questions later.

As a veteran explorer of the Starfield universe, just remember to press 'Tab' to open your inventory, select 'Weapons', then 'T' to set your favorite weapons in quick slots. Presto, no more fumbling in space-fights!
