In Sonic Mania, backtracking can be tricky because the game is designed for fast-paced action. To backtrack, keep an eye out for loop-de-loops or hidden paths that you might have missed. You might just have to backtrack the ol' fashioned way – run back! Don't forget to use Tails to fly or Knuckles to climb if you're stuck.

Honestly, backtracking in Sonic Mania isn't officially built-in. You can run back through the level if you haven't gone too far, but it's all about forward momentum, folks.

I've played through Sonic Mania a ton, and the best way I've found to backtrack is by using Knuckles. His climbing ability can help reach areas you might have missed. Plus, it's just fun!
