How to backup Steam save files
ForetellingTable·7 months agoHonestly, just copy the save files yourself. Most are in the 'My Documents' folder under 'My Games' or in the 'Steam\userdata' folder. Just copy the whole 'userdata' folder to another location and boom, manual backup done. No need to mess around with Steam's backup feature, which can be a bit finicky with where it decides to store those backups.

Steam Cloud is your friend. Make sure it's enabled for your games, and let it handle the backups. Automatic, no fuss.
I just use Steam's backup option. Never had an issue, and it's saved me more than once when I accidentally deleted a game.
Backing up your Steam save files is crucial, especially if you’re about to embark on a PC cleansing spree or just want peace of mind. The easiest way is to use Steam’s built-in Backup feature. Go to your Steam Library, right-click the game you want to backup, select 'Properties', then go to the 'Local Files' tab and click on 'Backup game files…'. Choose the destination for the backup, and you’re all set! Remember, not all games store saves in the same place, so check each game's settings if you run into trouble.
