To battle with your buddy in Pokemon GO, make sure they're at least at the 'Good Buddy' level. Then, go to the battle screen either in a Team Leader battle, Trainer battle, or a Rocket battle, and your buddy will be there to help out!

Get your buddy to the 'Ultra Buddy' level, and they'll assist you in battles. It’s awesome and totally worth the effort!

Honestly, just focus on leveling your buddy up. Once they’re 'Good Buddy' level or higher, they’ll automatically join your battles.
