The trick is to change your smell using the 'Roll Around' action and then let them recognize you by 'Re-Sniffing.' Once they realize you're not a rival, you can 'Pet' them without getting chomped.

To beat Dogamy and Dogaressa, roll around to get rid of your smell and then re-sniff. After that, pet both of them and they'll be good doggos!
