Invest in properties and use them to fund your ammo and car obsession. Also, armor up before big missions; can't stress this enough.
First time I beat GTA 5, I followed a simple strategy: do every mission as it comes, spend time learning to drive and shoot better (it REALLY helps in later missions), and keep an eye on those character abilities. Franklin's driving and Trevor's rage mode? Game changers.
