Try to clear the blockers first! The quicker you get rid of those pesky obstacles, the sooner you can create the power-ups needed to finish the level.
From experience, concentrate on the bottom of the board when possible. This helps reactivate cascading effects which can clear more tiles and create special items!
Honestly, some levels are just designed to drive you nuts. Keep at it and don't forget to use your boosts wisely.
