Honestly, just keep making matches near the bottom. It causes cascades that clear a lot more tiles.
From my experience, you really want to combine the power-ups (like rockets and bombs) whenever possible. It makes a HUGE difference.
I beat it by concentrating on the corners first, which are usually the hardest to clear. Also, don't forget to use those boosters if you get stuck!
