Blocking in GTA 5 isn't like your traditional fighting game block mechanism. If you're looking to dodge bullets, your best bet is using the game's cover system. Just press the cover button (Q on PC, R1 on PlayStation, RB on Xbox) to stick to the nearest wall or object. Your character will automatically try to avoid getting hit. For melee fights, though, timing your dodge (Space on PC, Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox) when your opponent swings at you is key. Get the timing right, and you'll open them up for a counterattack!

Honestly, just keep moving. GTA 5's mechanics favor dodging and using cover more than standing still and blocking. I've found that constantly moving, especially during gunfights, makes it harder for enemies to hit you. And for fistfights, time your dodges鈥攎uch more effective than looking for a block button.

If you're a Grand Theft Auto player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

That includes gift cards from all of your favorite gaming platforms, like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam and more... which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:
