You can't exactly block likes on Facebook, but you can change who sees them! Go to your Facebook settings, select the Privacy tab, and adjust 'Who can see the people, Pages, and lists you like?' to 'Only Me' if you want to keep it private.
I tried everything to hide my likes, but turns out you can only limit who sees them. Check your privacy settings!
