To board the Mantis ship in Starfield, start by completing the 'Mantis' side quest. You'll find the quest in a note called 'Secret Outpost' on a dead spacer. Once you have the note, make your way to Denebola I-b to uncover a hidden location where you'll face some enemies before claiming the ship as your own. Happy flying!

I actually managed to board the Mantis ship by first completing the 'Mantis' side quest. The note 'Secret Outpost' was my starting point and led me to Denebola I-b, where I found the ship waiting after a thrilling battle with space baddies.
