How to Break Crimson Altars in Terraria

Breaking Crimson Altars in Terraria is a crucial step for progressing, especially when you're trying to spawn new ores in your world. The only way to do this is by using the Pwnhammer or any higher-tier hammer you snag after defeating the Wall of Flesh. Be careful, though! Smashing these altars can cause a few Wraiths to spawn, and each altar you break has a chance of corrupting a random stone block in your world into Crimson or Hallow. Safety first, so make sure you're ready for a fight and okay with a bit of world corruption in exchange for those sweet, sweet ores.

I've read you need a Pwnhammer, but honestly, I tried with a few hammers before realizing it HAS to be the Pwnhammer or better. Makes you wonder why they can't just let us use dynamite...

If you're a Terraria player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

That includes gift cards from all of your favorite gaming platforms, like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam and more... which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!
