Building a mob farm in Terraria is all about location and traps. First, find a good spot, maybe underground or in a biome where your desired mobs spawn. Then, you’re gonna want to set up a space that’s easy for mobs to enter but not so easy to leave. Use lava pits and dart traps connected to timers to deal damage. Make sure you have a safe spot to stand where you can collect loot without getting hit. Conveyor belts can help move items to you. Also, don't forget to wall off the area to prevent unwanted guests!

Simple version: Just dig a big hole, line the bottom with lava (not too much or you'll destroy the loot), and wait for the mobs to fall in. Works like a charm.
