You know, building stairs is overrated. Just jump up the terrain like a true survivor.
As someone who has spent hours in the game, start by opening your survival guide with 'B', navigate to the custom buildings tab, select stairs, and then place and build it with logs. Voila, you have stairs!
Open your survival book, go to the 2nd tab, select the stairs blueprint, and place it where you want. Then fill it with logs.
