Honestly, I just use platforms to make stairs. Place them one above the other in a stair pattern. You can jump through platforms but also go up and down easily. It's not a 'staircase' in the traditional sense, but it gets the job done and looks clean.
Just stack blocks diagonally, like a zigzag. No need to overthink it!
