Just stack some wood blocks and slap a door on it. Boom, you got yourself a house! Don't forget a torch; it gets pretty dark in Terraria.

Starting off in Terraria, building a simple rectangular house is your best bet. Make sure it's at least 6 blocks high and 10 blocks wide to give you some room to move around and store items. Use wood or stone for the walls and for the floor, to start with - you can find these materials easily. Don't forget a door to keep out those pesky zombies, and place a workbench, a chair, and a torch inside to meet the requirements for an NPC to move in. It's basic but does the job!

Pro tip: Add a wooden sword in one hand while you build your first house. Why? Because in Terraria, the night is dark and full of terrors. Literally. Those early zombies won't wait for you to finish your architectural masterpiece.
