To build near thermal vents in Subnautica, just park your habitat builder close to the vent and start laying foundations. Make sure to use thermal plants to harness that sweet, sweet energy!

Get those Thermal Plants as close as you can to the vent without getting cooked! Use Power Transmitters to bridge any gaps to your base.

I've built near thermal vents many times. Use Reinforced Hull Foundations if you're worried about your base taking damage, then place a Thermal Plant within range of the vents. Connect using Power Transmitters to juice up your base!

Hot take: why build close to thermal vents when solar and bioreactors work just fine? Less stress!
