Start by turning off your PS4 and your controller. Hold down the PS button and the Share button simultaneously until the light bar starts flashing, then connect the controller to the PS4 using a USB cable and press the PS button.

You can also reset your controller by pressing the small reset button on the back near the L2 button. Use a pin or paperclip to press it.

Honestly, I've never had to calibrate my PS4 controller. Just making sure it's updated and connected via USB usually fixes any issues.
