Just Fast Travel anywhere, and Dogmeat will magically appear next to you. It's like he's got a teleportation feature built in lol. So if you lose him, just teleport to the nearest location, and bam, instant Dogmeat!

To call Dogmeat back in Fallout 4 on Xbox One, you gotta press and hold down the 'VATS' button, which by default should be the left bumper (LB). If he's not too far, this should make your character whistle, calling Dogmeat back to your location. Works like a charm unless he's off chasing squirrels or something.
