You can cancel it through the PlayStation website too! Log in, go to [Subscriptions Management], find your PS Plus trial, and hit [Turn Off Auto Renew].

I had to cancel mine last month. Just went to [Settings], scrolled to [Account Management], then [Account Information], and finally [PlayStation Subscriptions]. Hit cancel and done!
