Nope, you can't carry people. Stick to carrying shells and other objects. It's still fun!
From my experience, try incorporating platforms that move or elevators in your levels to help players navigate to higher places instead!
Sorry, carrying people isn't a feature in Super Mario Maker 2. Focus on crafting awesome levels or using Yoshi to give other players a boost!
