Catching fish in Animal Crossing: New Leaf is pretty simple but requires a bit of timing. First, you gotta find a fish shadow in the river or ocean. Then, cast your line by pressing 'A' when you're close enough so that the float lands in front of the fish’s shadow. Wait for the fish to notice your bait – you’ll see it bump into the float a few times. Be patient! The moment the float goes under water, press 'A' again to reel it in. Timing is key; if you press too early or too late, the fish will escape. Happy fishing!

Pro tip: Fish shadows vary in size. Bigger shadows could mean rarer fish, so keep an eye out for those big ones. Also, different fish appear depending on the time of day and season, so mix up your fishing times for a full collection.

Don't overthink it! Just cast your line near the fish shadow and hit 'A' when the bobber goes under. The rest is just luck and patience.
