TBH, patience is key. Wait for the shadow and bubbles, then dive and grab. Took me forever to catch my first scallop because I kept swimming over it!

No wet suit = no sea creatures. Get that suit on and dive at the bubbles!

Just dive in! Seriously though, buy a wet suit, jump from your island's shore, and press 'Y' to dive when you see those bubble shadows. Some critters are quick, so be ready to chase them down.

To catch sea creatures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, first, you gotta get a wet suit. You can buy one from Nook's Cranny or through your NookStop terminal in Resident Services. Once you're all suited up, head to the ocean and press 'A' to start swimming. Look for bubbles on the water's surface – that's where the creatures are hiding. Swim over to the bubbles and dive underwater by pressing 'Y'. Then, swim close and grab your new aquatic buddy!

If you're an Animal Crossing player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Nintendo eShop gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
