Easy peasy! To change your ammo type, hold down the reload button and use the joystick/thumbstick to select the ammo type you want. Done!
Hold R for a second (or reload button on console), then simply move the right thumbstick to choose your ammo type. Easy as pie!
In my experience, it's all about holding the reload button and then flicking that right stick to the ammo you need. Simple!
