Just go to the main menu, select 'Party,' and swap characters. It's that simple!
In DBZ Kakarot, you can't change the main character Goku during story mode, but you can swap support characters through the Party menu.
I was stuck on this too! Press Options, navigate to Party, and then choose who you want in your team. Pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it.
Spoiler alert: can't swap Goku in story mode but can change support characters via Party menu in main menu.
