Just hit up the in-game menu, head to 'Settings', and look under the 'Battle' section to switch the difficulty back.

You can't actually adjust the difficulty in Xenoblade Chronicles X once you've started the game, it's a one-and-done setting. Good luck!

Honestly, the game isn't that hard once you get the hang of it. Maybe just try leveling up a bit more if you're struggling.
