You can change the name of your ship in Starfield by docking at a spaceport with a ship services technician. They'll help you rename it after you've selected it from your fleet to customize!
Why change the name when you can upgrade the blasters instead?
From my own adventure in Starfield, simply dock at a space station, find the ship services technician, and you'll be able to rename your ship along with other customizations. It feels like giving your space ride a new identity!
