From personal experience, updating your display name is the way to go. Go to 'Settings' > 'View Profile' > 'Edit Profile.' Easy peasy!
Hot take: Just link your account to Facebook. It'll use your Facebook name and you'll never have to worry about usernames again.
You can't directly change your Spotify username, but you can change your display name! Just go to 'Edit Profile' in your settings.
Just create a new account with the username you want. Sure, it's a hassle, but it works.
