Changing the world spawn point in Terraria is actually pretty straightforward, but it does require a bit of work. The spawn point is usually where you first appear in the world, but you can move it by using a bed. First, find or craft a bed (you'll need wood and silk for that). Place the bed in a house that meets all the requirements for a valid NPC house - it needs walls, a door, a chair, a table, and it must be fully enclosed. Right-click the bed, and if everything's set up correctly, your spawn point will now be this new location!

Actually, you don't "change" the spawn in Terraria, you just set a new one with a bed. Simple.

Beds, people! Just put a bed down in a proper house, and you're good. Spawn point = changed. Also, make sure the house is NPC-ready or it won't work. Learned that the hard way...
