To change your gamertag on PS3, you actually need to change your PSN ID. Head to the account management section on your PS3, sign in, and you'll find the option to edit your profile. Just be aware that PS3 doesn't support name changes without creating a new account!

Unfortunately, the PS3 doesn't support changing your PSN ID. If you want a new gamertag, you'll have to create a new account with the desired name. Annoying, but that's the way it is!

I've been through this! If you're really set on changing that PS3 gamertag, you'll need to make a new PSN account. PS3 doesn't support ID changes like the newer consoles.
