Just a heads up: If you're trying to change your Gamertag, that's a different process. We're talking your real name here!
From your Xbox console, press the Xbox button to open the guide, go to Profile & system, select your profile, then 'My profile'. Choose 'Customize profile', then 'Change name'. Follow the prompts and presto, new name!
