Just hold it up to the light! Real Pokemon cards have a thin layer of black ink between the paper, which you can see if you hold it up to a light source. If it's missing, you've got a fake on your hands.

Checking if a Pokemon card is real or fake can be pretty straightforward! First, look at the card's texture and color. Real Pokemon cards have a distinct smooth feel and vibrant colors. The edges should be clean and not fuzzy. Another telltale sign is the card's weight; real cards have a specific weight due to the quality paper used. Also, don鈥檛 forget to check the holographic elements if applicable; they should be high-quality and not just a sticker. Finally, compare the card to others from a trusted source, paying close attention to font and alignment.

TBH, sometimes it's just a gut feeling. If it looks too shiny or feels off, it probably is. Plus, if the deal's too good to be true, it usually isn't real!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
