Visit the game’s dashboard, check game stats, boom, playtime found. Simple as that.
Easy peasy! Go to 'My games & apps' > 'See all' > highlight the game you want > press the hamburger button (≡) > 'Go to official club' > 'Progress'. There, you'll see 'Stats' which shows your total play time.
From personal experience, tracking this way is the best! Open your game, head to 'Xbox Guide' with the Xbox button, select 'Achievements' or 'Stats,' and there you have your hours logged.
