Unfortunately, you can't check a Steam card's balance without redeeming it. When you get a Steam gift card, the only way to know its value is by adding it to your Steam wallet, which directly redeems the card. Valve hasn't provided a tool or option for checking the card balance beforehand.

I tried to figure this out once 'cause I wanted to gift a partly used Steam card to a friend. Turns out, you really have to redeem it to see the balance. There's no sneaky workaround that I could find.

No can do, buddy. It鈥檚 all or nothing with Steam cards. You gotta redeem it to see what you're working with. Kinda like a mystery box, but for your Steam wallet.

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
