Another way to check is through certain game titles that have built-in playtime trackers, usually found in the game's settings or profile menus.
You can check time played on PS4 by using the “Parental Controls/Family Management” settings. Just go to Settings > Parental Controls/Family Management > Family Management, and select the account you want to view. (Yes, even if it's your own, no judgment here!)
I've found that some games keep track themselves. For example, most Ubisoft games will show your total hours played right on the main menu.
