I closed mine last year. Just navigate to Settings, find the option for 'Your Facebook Information,' then 'Deactivation and Deletion,' and follow the steps!
To close your Facebook account, go to Settings > Your Facebook Information > Deactivation and Deletion. Choose 'Delete Account' and follow the prompts!
Forget all the steps, just use the search bar in Settings to find 'Delete account' and you're golden.
