It's pretty simple! Place the first multipurpose room, then build a ladder inside it. After that, stack the second multipurpose room on top and connect them with the ladder. Voil脿, vertical base expansion!
Do what I did: built one room, slapped a ladder in there, and constructed the second room on top. Works like a charm.
