I used a CronusMax Plus adapter to connect my PS3 controller to my Xbox 360. It worked flawlessly after updating the firmware!

Simply, you can't directly connect a PS3 controller to an Xbox 360 because they're built for different systems. An adapter like CronusMax Plus can make it work though.
