Unfortunately, you can't connect an Afterglow controller to a PS3 without a USB dongle. Those controllers require a dedicated wireless adapter.

No dongle, no dice. You've got to use the USB dongle to get that Afterglow controller working on a PS3.
I tried this too and had no luck. The Afterglow controllers need their specific dongles. Sorry!
