You can't directly connect a PS3 controller to a PS4. If you really want to use it, you'll need a special adapter like the CronusMax Plus or Titan One.

I tried this before! You need an adapter, like the CronusMax Plus. Plug the adapter into the PS4 and sync your PS3 controller to it. Works like a charm!
