Had the same issue! You just plug in your controller via USB or connect via Bluetooth, start Asphalt 9, and go to settings. Make sure 'Controller' is selected and configured there.

You don't need to do anything special! Just plug in your controller and the game will detect it automatically. If not, check the settings menu.
