How to Connect iPhone Hotspot to PS3
Easy peasy! Just activate your iPhone’s hotspot in Settings > Personal Hotspot. Then, on your PS3, go to Network Settings and select your iPhone from the available Wi-Fi networks. Enter the hotspot password, and you’re good to game!

I’ve done this! Go to Settings on your iPhone, enable Personal Hotspot, then on your PS3, navigate to Network Settings. Select your iPhone’s network, enter the password, and you're all set!
Why bother? The PS3’s Wi-Fi capabilities aren't great for hotspot connections. Better to use a direct wired connection if you can.
Been there, done that! Make sure your iPhone’s Personal Hotspot is on (Settings > Personal Hotspot). On your PS3, head to Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings > Easy, and choose your iPhone's network. Enter the hotspot password when prompted. Done.
