Been there, done that. Even if you somehow manage to connect it using an HDMI capture card, the lag will make it unbearable. Stick to Remote Play for a smooth experience.
You can't directly hook up a PS4 to a MacBook using HDMI. However, you can use a capture card if you really need to. But for most purposes, Remote Play should do the trick.
Save yourself the headache. MacBooks don't support HDMI input. Just use Remote Play!
