From the XMB menu, navigate to PlayStation Network. Then select Sign Up for PSN or Sign In if you already have an account. Follow the prompts!

Honestly? Hook up your Ethernet cable or connect to Wi-Fi, then go to Settings > Network Settings. Select Internet Connection Settings, choose Easy, and you’re good to go.

First-hand experience here: I connected mine by going to the XMB menu, heading to Settings > Network Settings, and choosing Internet Connection Settings. Pick Easy setup, connect to Wi-Fi, and voila!
