To connect a wireless remote to your PS3, first plug a USB cable into the remote and the PS3. Press the PS button. Once it's connected, you can remove the cable and it should stay synced via Bluetooth.

Honestly, just use the USB cable to pair it. Then press the PS button. Simple as that.
