Just follow the big ol' blimp in the sky! But for real, after you meet them at the Cambridge Police Station, make sure you're doing the quests for Paladin Danse and checking in with the Prydwen regularly. Quests will chain one after the other. Some side quests for the Brotherhood won't advance the main story but will keep you in their good graces.
Honestly, just join another faction. The Minutemen have cooler hats anyway.
