To convert an equation to slope-intercept form, solve for y so it looks like y = mx + b. For example, if you have 2x + 3y = 6, subtract 2x from both sides to get 3y = -2x + 6, then divide everything by 3 to get y = -2/3x + 2.

Simplify the equation until it's y = mx + b. For instance, with 4x - 2y = 8, rearrange to -2y = -4x + 8, then divide by -2: y = 2x - 4.

Just rearrange it so y stands alone on one side and everything else is on the other. Bam, you've got it!

You just isolate the y variable on one side of the equation and make sure the x term is on the other. Everything else follows naturally.
